We launched the "Hofgarten" project in March. This involves establishing a fruit and vegetable garden on our farm. Together with Delphin Werkstätten (our partners on the farm), we at Vegavero want to transform a neglected area in the far corner of our farm into a fruit and vegetable garden. We will then harvest delicious fruit and vegetables ourselves, cook together, and sell our produce at a small farm stand. The proceeds will go exclusively to Delphin Werkstätten. Delphin Werkstätten is a recognized workshop for people with disabilities. It is a so-called "gGmbH," a non-profit organization.

Now, a little about the garden

It's about 500 square meters, which will be used as a wood storage area, but also for growing fruit and vegetables in the future. But first, we need to do some serious cleaning. We need to remove the weeds and prepare the area for the flowerbeds, raised beds, and fruit trees. This also requires moving wood and creating small paths.

The project team

From the Delphins, Kerstin, Maxi, Sylvia, and Vicky are participating. Marek, Sara, Melanie, Philip, Victoria, and Alexander are participating in Vegavero. This is the project team. But if we need help, we will, of course, invite colleagues to lend a hand. It'll certainly be a good physical change in the fresh air.

So far, the Delphins have built five raised beds, and as a team, we've filled them with soil from our own compost. The seedlings are currently still in the garden storage to prevent them from falling victim to a possible frost. But in a few weeks, we'll release them into the wild.

We'll now be reporting regularly on our project and progress. You can find short videos on our Instagram story.

Best regards
