Cartilage is a rubbery connective tissue that cushions the joints, provides pressure resistance and prevents the bone ends from rubbing against each other. A lifetime of walking, moving around and exercising can take a toll on joint cartilage: It becomes less flexible and begins to deteriorate, increasing the risk for inflammatory diseases like arthritis.
Two of the main components of cartilage and the synovial fluid that lubricates the joints are glucosamine and chondroitin. Supplements with both glucosamine and chondroitin are therefore especially recommended for elderly people, as well as people who are suffering from joint problems and athletes like runners who put a lot of stress on their knees, for example.
PLANT-BASED AND HIGHLY BIOAVAILABLE
Usually both substances are obtained from animal waste products including shellfish and shark or bovine cartilage. Our Glucosamine Complex is the first complex joint supplement on the market that is completely vegan. We opted for high-quality ingredients, including fermentation-based glucosamine and the patented vegan chondroitin Phytodroitino®, a non-animal polysaccaride with identical structure as animal chondroitin sulphate otained from algae extracts (Fucus vesiculosus, Ulva lactuca) and hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate). These two natural forms have a structure very similar to those found in human cartilage and are therefore better absorbed by the body than products of animal origin.
Apart from glucosamine and chondroitin, we also added 99.9% pure MSM powder and a highly dosed devil's claw extract with 2% harpagoside - the most important bioactive ingredient of the plant. The natural vitamin C from acerola, as well as zinc in the form of zinc citrate also contribute to the preservation of bones and support cartilage function.
